And how much do they make? Is that one occupation or two? Just wondering because my friend has a really nice house and is pretty wealthy and his dad is one of those and is mom is a stay at home mom, so his dad must make a lot?

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is a specialty practice (requires being boarded- additional training and examination necessary). They are often referred to as physiatrist’s. In a hospital they would work with a team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, rehabilitation nurses, and therapeutic recreation specialists in a comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program. In a clinic, they would be working with patients who typically have orthopedic injuries or disease.

Salary is based on need, but a U.S. based PM&R doc who is boarded could make in the $150K to $250K annual range based on practice size or employment contract.
